Om Nom: The Movie (formerly Cut the Rope: The Movie) was a cancelled animated Russian-British-American film produced by Blockade Entertainment and ZeptoLab. The movie was produced by Brad Foxhoven (CEO of Blockade Entertainment) and David Wohl (Blockade's VP of Development) with Seymon and Efim Voinov (Cut the Rope creators) serving as executive producers. The movie is based on the successful mobile game Cut the Rope and the series Om Nom Stories.

History[]

During 2014, after the success of many mobile games such as Minecraft, Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, and Cut the Rope itself. There were many plans of giving the games a movie adaptation. This eventually came into fruition as Mojang signed with Warner Brothers to make a film adaptation of Minecraft. Then, Pop Cap Games would partner with Dreamworks Animation to create a Plants vs Zombies movie.

After Om Nom: Stories was released, Seymon Voinov thought of turning the franchise into a movie. He had ambitious ideas of making it Om Nom's backstory and how it would be farther than anyone's expectations.

In Mid 2015, his plans came into fruition, ZeptoLab announced a film, in collaboration with Blockade Entertainment, a movie studio known for their film adaptations of video games, titled Cut the Rope: The Movie which was later renamed to Om Nom: The Movie. It would be released in Late 2016. According to Misha Lyalin (CEO of ZeptoLab), "Blockade was the right partner to do this. Blockade is also making other movies based on games.". It would follow a similar plot to the 5 parts of Strange Delivery in Cut the Rope: The Comic and the first season of Om Nom Stories. News websites related to games and films were quick to announce the game's film adaptation. The movie would mix 3d animation with the iconic animation style in the Cut the Rope franchise. Despite the announcement, neither ZeptoLab nor Blockade Entertainment never announced who would be the director, screenwriter, and/nor star for the movie which is most likely to do with the movie being in its pre-production phase.

Status[]

Despite Blockade Entertainment still claiming Om Nom: The Movie is still in production; no sign of the movie had yet to come. There have been many theories speculating the reason such as Cut the Rope losing popularity and/or how ZeptoLab is making the franchise more child focused. At the same time, the Minecraft movie was put on hold and the Plants vs Zombies movie was cancelled by Dreamworks. There have also been claims of people claiming they own a copy of the movie, but these have proven to be hoaxes. Due to this, Om Nom: The Movie has mostly been considered as cancelled and will most likely never be finished as of its current status.
