Hello,
I'm posting an update in regards to new info and the evidence about it.
I just want to say before starting the reasoning, just want to bring up my false claim of the "channel being fake". No, the channel is not fake but there are chances that the channel is not linked to Zeptolab (the main company behind Cut the Rope) and Metaxilasis (The animation studio behind Om Nom Stories)
I did not mean to muddle up the information if I could recall, I remember getting it from a Twitter post that I could just not find anywhere,
I do want to apologize for making such a bogus claim, It was wrong from my end and should have checked the validity on the post.
Here is the channel in question: https://www.youtube.com/@OmNomLiveOfficialChannel/videos
In regards to the story behind it.
There are quite a few bits wrong with the photos.
Here's one:
Om Nom's Santa hat looks poorly attached on. (you can see where his hat and Om Nom don't line up correctly as the image of Om Nom is in front of the hat.) You can also notice that the asset of Om Nom looks edited, it has an odd shape to it, I'm not talking about his antennae being hidden in his hat. also his hat changes between thumbnails.
Take this real thumbnail for example:
He does not look cropped strangely and looks officially made instead of being made by a person who edited in a paint program, overall, it has a polished-up look to it.
Anyways, let's get into the story of things, Om Nom Live, an Om Nom Stories-based channel with 323 subscribers, last uploaded around January 2023, with a YouTube short. They are also known for the infamous Skull clip that became a meme, they seem to be one of the few channels to be copyright struck by Zeptolab, in regards to their comments, I think there are some questions on the validity of the comments as all of the videos from the channel have their comments turned off, so I have to rely on screenshots.
Here are screenshots of the comments archived thanks to JacobYoshi (and the one that told me the flimsy claims I made, so Thank you!)
I have some issues with the comment.
First, let's go to some of the reasonings, asking the people who archived the episode to not reupload it is a fair response if it was a leaked episode but what I have the most issue with is the reasons for it being canceled, There is a supposed scene in the episode where they argue and is the main conflict of the episode, this raises some questions,
How bad was it that it caused the whole episode to be scrapped?
Was it too intense for its target audience?
Were they too concerned that it pushed the limits of the show?
Why did it take almost a week until release to ultimately scrap the episode?
There was supposed to be a video explaining but it was scrapped for unknown reasons, which could raise some eyebrows about it being false, Don't get me wrong, there are some strong points in the comments, but some of the reasoning is flimsy, for example, calling the episode a "badly idea"
Now I get into the elephant of the room, The reported sighting of the episode being leaked and it's screenshots.
I feel like this is the smoking gun that potentially spoils the episode's legitimacy.
Here are some screenshots of the supposed episode Uploaded by Amari.yakisich.
Unlike the thumbnail, which looks legit at first glance, this looks edited in the first viewing,
Om Nom's hat is tacked on and cropped poorly and the background in some parts, looks coloured in, the image looks way too high quality for the reported sighting (let alone something that had only 108 views which I get to later.)
Here is another screenshot:
It looks much more believable than the last screenshot but again, there are some signs that someone took an image from a random episode, used a background remover and plastered it on the background that they most likely got it from an art website or had drawn it themselves.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the gif.
It's actually there in giphy so there are chances that it could be real, but there are other gifs that did not belong to the show, including one with om nom's santa hat on.
Plus in regards to the claim of the episode being uploaded and then immediately becoming private right after seems quite odd, for a lost video that has 108 views, there are surprisingly a few high-quality screenshots for a video that very few people have seen, if they have very high-quality screenshots, they would have the video right?
In conclusion, this was something I could learn from but I feel that the existence of the episode is possible but the fake screenshots, some vivid comments and the info that it only having 108 views before being deleted could jeopardize the legitimacy of the episode.
If you have any other points that you like to bring up, Feel free to!
Have a nice day.
